Schneider is a town in West Creek Township, Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 277 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest town in Lake County by population.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all of it land.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there are 317 people, 113 households, and 84 families residing in the town. The population density is 361.0 people per square mile (139.1/km²). There are 125 housing units at an average density of 142.4 per square mile (54.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.11% White, 0.32% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.32% Pacific Islander, and 0.95% from two or more races. 0.63% of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 113 households, out of which 38.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.5% are married couples living together, 10.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% are non-families. 20.4% of all households are made up of individuals, and 9.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79, and the average family size is 3.21.
